CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants has been active in promoting better corporate governance in Hong Kong over the past decade. The Institute believes that in order for Hong Kong to remain successful in an increasingly competitive global market and to maintain its status amongst the world's leading financial and commercial centres, it must continue to promote and aspire to achieve international best practice in corporate governance, both in terms of the regulatory framework and prevailing practices.
Drawing the experience of accountants working in different fields, the Institute formed a Corporate Governance Working Group in 1995 (renamed Corporate Governance Committee in 1998), with the aim of playing a leading role in the development, implementation and promotion of sound corporate governance in Hong Kong.
