About the seminar
Since the
China Securities Regulatory Commission and People's Bank of Chinajointly promulgated
the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors Regulation in November 2002,
the market has shown a keen interest in monitoring its development as well
as its potential impact on further market opening measures.
This presentation will provide a brief introduction to the related regulation,
as well as how Hong Kong investors can participate.
About the speaker
Mr. James Wong is the Senior Vice President in charge of HSBC's custody and clearing operation in Hong Kong, as well as its securities lending and issuer services business in the region. James is a qualified accountant, and worked with HSBC's corporate and retail banking businesses before moving into his current position. He was a director of Hong Kong Clearing since 1995 until its merger with the other Hong Kong exchanges and clearing houses to form the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in 2000. James is now a member of the Clearing Panel of HKEx.
Mr. Wong has been actively involved in all aspects of market infrastructural and regulatory developments in Hong Kong and also has responsibility for regulatory and infrastructural development in the Chinese securities market. He has been a member of various consultative committees and working groups initiated by the SFC, most recently as a member of the HKMA Working Group on the Securities & Futures Bill and the SFC's SCEFI User Working Group. James is also the convenor of the Hong Kong Custodians Group.
Registration
The admission fee for attending the lunch seminar is HKD70 per person. The number of places is limited and will be allocated to FSIG members on a first-come-first-served basis in case of over-subscription. For members who wish to attend the seminar, please complete the attached reply slip and return it by post or by fax for registration on or before Monday, 18 August 2003 to the Professional & Technical Department of the Society, together with a cheque payable to Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants if you pay your admission fee by cheque. Enrolment by fax is only allowed for visa card payments.
