QP Case Analysis Competition and Seminar 2017

The Institute received a tremendous number of entries to the QP Case Analysis Competition this year.

The QP Case Analysis Competition 2017 attracted over 300 teams from 11 local institutions in Hong Kong and more than 430 teams from 76 mainland institutions. In September, around 300 students attended the seminar on “Becoming a business advisor in the toy retail industry." Through the resourceful and interactive presentations, participants gained valuable insight in case preparation by learning more about the toy retail industry, the importance of ethics in the business environment, tips on preparing business report and the financial analysis tools used for making business decisions. Eight finalist teams will be shortlisted to enter the final competition through a blind review undertaken by reviewers from both academia and accounting practices. The finalists will meet on the presentation day, followed by a luncheon with CPAs, on Saturday, 25 November 2017 at the Harbour Grand Hong Kong Hotel.

Take this opportunity to meet students from other universities, leading accounting practitioners and business leaders. QP early bird scheme for the June 2018 Examination Session

The Institute will be organizing a series of information sessions and roving exhibitions on the Qualification Programme (QP) at eight higher education institutions in November 2017. Through the information sessions and the exhibitions, students can get information about the structure of the Institute's professional accounting education program, the QP, and how QP helps them get ahead in their career.

Final year students who would like to join the QP early bird scheme may submit their registration form at the exhibitions. Kindly note that the early bird scheme closing date for the June 2018 Session is 24 November 2017. Career Forum 2017

The Career Forum was held on 8 October 2017 at Cyberport Conference and Exhibition Centre. Around 700 participants attended the forum activities including a luncheon and career advice forum, career-oriented workshops, exhibitions, CPA firm interview, and a CV doctor.

The forum was a full-day event which provided participants with fascinating insights into career development in assurance and risk management, forensic accounting, digitalization in accounting, financial advisory and management consultancy, tax compliance and planning, professional accountants in business world, path to become a CPA, and effective job hunting and image building. High-speed growth

Andrew Wong, Financial Controller of Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited, says being an Institute-authorized employer helps his company attract the right candidates in a competitive job market. He finds QP students have solid technical knowledge and mindset that allows them to cope with changes and meet new challenges.

Krystal Yuen, Accounting Assistant of Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited, says QP is a reputable accountancy qualification which is well-recognized by employers. She benefits a lot from QP training and finds its knowledge directly relevant to her job.
