2019 PAIB Conference “Digital & Virtual Banking: tomorrow’s banking today?”



Register for the annual PAIB conference on 21 Sept where renowned speakers will discuss the latest development of smart banking. Investigations of personal conduct allegations
At the lunch seminar on 10 Sept, specialist speakers from the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) and from the field of employment law will discuss investigations into conduct-related allegations. They will also look at the role and investigation processes of the EOC, as well as broader issues that may go beyond the scope of EOC cases.

China tax updates from the Institute's meeting with the STA
At the evening seminar on 10 Sept, members of the Institute's Taxation Faculty China Tax Sub-committee will explain the views of tax officials on key questions about cross-border and Mainland China tax issues discussed at the annual liaison meeting with the State Taxation Administration (STA) in late June.

Companies (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 2018: Implications on financial reporting
The seminar on 18 Sept will provide an overview of the 2018 amendment in relation to financial reporting. The speaker will discuss the expanded scope of reporting exemption, under which qualified entities are eligible for the use of the Small- and Medium- sized Entity Financial Reporting Framework and Financial Reporting Standard for financial reporting, as well as the common pitfalls of applying the disclosure requirements of the Companies Ordinance in the director's report and financial statements.

Updated list of individuals and entities pursuant to the section 25 of the United Nations Sanctions (ISIL and Al-Qaida) Regulation (Cap. 537CB).

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575). There is an amendment to one entry from the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List. For details, please refer to the press release issued by the United Nations Security Council Committees.

Recruitment of CPA Marathon team

The Institute will nominate 12 members to compete at the Standard Chartered Marathon 2020 – Corporate Challenge Cup, with four runners in each of the 10 km, half marathon and full marathon race categories. Put your name forward if you wish to represent the Institute. All applicants are required to undergo a selection process in which selection criteria will be based on runners' recent records.


Don’t miss the CPA music night on 7 Sept at Sheung Wan Civic Centre. Solo and group performances are welcome, and free audience tickets are also available.
