Revamp of the Institute’s newsletters

To better connect with and inform members, students and other stakeholders, we are updating our newsletters and email templates. The first of which, CPD Highlights, was went out yesterday. Over the coming weeks, e-circular, TechWatch, CPD Planner and Lifestyle will be replaced with newly-designed and themed newsletters. After the roll out, we will ask for feedback and enhancements will be made.


Strategic Succession Series: International trust structures
Enrol in the webinar on 29 May to learn about the common usage, unique functions, the strengths and weaknesses of different types of trust structures. The issues, concerns and procedures in setting up family trusts and how to operate them will also be discussed.

ICAEW membership for younger members offer
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is inviting Institute members who are graduates of the Qualification Programme and who joined the Institute after 2011 to apply for ICAEW membership at a special rate. HKAAA membership 2020
Remember to apply or renew your Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) membership for 2020 (and affiliate with your Institute membership) before 31 May to enjoy priority entry for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2021.
 
Institute's comments

The Institute has submitted comments on the IASB’s Exposure Draft ED/2020/2 Covid-19-Related Rent Concessions – Proposed amendment to IFRS 16.


Letter from ORO regarding impact of COVID-19

The Institute has received a letter from the Official Receiver’s Office (ORO) targeting insolvency practitioners. The letter advises on actions that should be taken where insolvency practitioners may face difficulty in complying with specified timelines or other requirements due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also encourages them to exercise professional judgement in relation to the use of flexibility in administering cases.


April IFRIC Update

The April 2020 IFRS Interpretations Committee Update is now available.


AML - United Nations sanctions

The updated list of individuals and entities was published on 12 May pursuant to section 31 of the United Nations (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) Regulation. Visit the Institute's anti-money laundering dedicated webpage for further information.
