The Institute's 47th annual general meeting will take place on 12 Dec. Nominations for Council election will close at 5:30 p.m. on 18 Nov. 2020 Council co-option and committee appointments – call for nominations

Career Survey 2019

The Institute's 2019 Career Survey Report combines two surveys of the membership and studentship and focuses on the profession's employment prospects, earning power, and the skills needed by accountants in the age of Accounting Plus. Click to see the full report.


AC Fun Run

The AC Fun Run made its debut on 3 Nov, over 500 runners vied to be the champions of the first accounting running event jointly organized by the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs, the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. How to achieve verifiable CPD hours

Learning activities count as verifiable continuing professional development (CPD) if they can be objectively verified by evidence such as attendance records, certificate of achievements or examination result slips. Find out more about how to achieve CPD hours and CPD requirements.

Professional Diploma in Insolvency
Enrol in the Professional Diploma in Insolvency by 26 Nov. The programme covers liquidation, personal insolvency, corporate rescue and restructuring, and cross-border insolvency and is reimbursable under the Continuing Education Fund.

Recent developments in the life of a liquidation
The lunch seminar on 19 Nov will discuss investigations under section 286B of the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance, litigation involving liquidators, as well as recent cases and practical developments involving schemes of arrangement and stays.

Get more by doing less at work
Join the seminar on 22 Nov to empower your resilient mindset to deal with challenges and strengthen your commitment to working smart. The speaker will examine the power of simplicity to achieve more by doing less and explain how to re-focus on areas that are worthwhile.

Join the visit to Cyberport on 15 Nov to learn about the latest developments of Cyberport and meet representatives from start-ups.

The lunch seminar on 15 Nov will talk about the “new era of smart banking”, the impact of virtual banking on Hong Kong, and the global virtual banking landscape.

At the seminar on 11 Nov, the speaker will share her experience in expanding small- and medium-sized practices’ business outside Hong Kong.

Register for the Hong Kong Independent Non-Executive Director Association’s Annual Conference – Business Valuation Standards in Hong Kong on 19 Nov at a discounted fee of HK$100.

The Belt and Road Cross-Professional Advancement Programme seminar on 22 Nov will cover the economic and infrastructure development of Africa, Russia and Southeast Asia under the Belt and Road initiatives. The event is free of charge.

The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute’s 10th Business Ethics Forum: Business Ethics in the Digital Era on 29 Nov will feature prominent business leaders and regulators from the financial services industry.

CPA table tennis competition

Take the challenge at the annual CPA table tennis competition on 8 and 15 Dec. Matches include men's singles and doubles, women's singles and mixed doubles.

Submit your marathon registration ID

If you have successfully enrolled in the Standard Chartered Marathon on 9 Feb, don't forget to submit your registration ID to help the Institute win the "Most Supportive Group Award".

IFRS/HKFRS 17 Insurance Contracts workshops – General insurance and life insurance

The workshops on 25 and 26 Nov will help non-life insurers to develop a working knowledge of the standard. It will focus on specific application and practical examples and interaction with other standards.

The workshop on 10 Dec will teach life insurers in-depth knowledge and practical application skills in relation to life insurance.

Industry update relating to banks

The seminar on 2 Dec will provide an update relating to the banking industry with particular reference to key revisions made to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Supervisory Policy Manual module IC-3 and PN 830 (Revised) Reports by the Auditor under the Banking Ordinance revised in December 2018.
