  IT Conference 2019 – early bird enrolment  

The annual IT Conference will take place on 19 Oct. Guest of Honour, Hugh Chow, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute will discuss their recent initiatives, while other renowned speakers will cover the advancement of technology in elite sports training and competition, how a finance department can stay top of the class with robotics process automation, the role of finance in digital transformation, and how to become a more strategic finance team. A Plus – Special report on forensic accounting

The August issue of A Plus introduces a new quarterly special report series on specialisms in the profession – starting with forensic accounting, examines why forensic accountants are more in-demand than ever in the age of big data. Other articles include interviews with the Deloitte China’s Value Creation and Crisis Management Partner, the Chief Financial Officer of FWD, and three CPA artists. This issue also brings you a new continuing professional development column, and a revamped life section with recommendations from Institute members on where to stay and dine in a city, as well as on books and music.

The series of seminars from September to December will help small and medium practitioners (SMPs) better prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead, adapt to changes, improve their management and operational efficiency, as well as support their sustainability and future success.

Tax and business considerations for U.S. investment
The seminar on 15 Oct will cover some of the basic U.S. business and tax concepts for inbound and outbound investments, as well as the current trends and issues.

The workshops of investment series from October to November will help you gain the knowledge about the nature and structure of various financial products in the market, as well as enhance your investment decision-making capability.

Join the workshop on 25 Sept to hear representatives from the Independent Commission Against Corruption's Hong Kong Ethics Development Centre discussing the model for ethical decision making and to develop useful perspectives for identifying an ethical issue and the skills needed for resolving ethical dilemmas.

HKPC SME One Fund Fair 2019
Register now for the free SME One Fund Fair 2019 on 16 and 17 Sept organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC). This one stop platform will provide information, best practice, success case sharing, and on-site consultancy to support local startups and small- and medium-sized enterprises.

ESG reporting: challenges in collecting non-financial data
The free seminar on 24 Sept, jointly organized by the Center for Economic Sustainability & Entrepreneurial Finance of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Investor Relations Association, will discuss the challenges in collecting non-financial data for environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. The seminar will see industry experts coming together to share their expertise and insights on green finance and ESG integration from an investment perspective. Register online now.

INSOL International one day seminars in Mainland China
On 14 and 16 Oct, INSOL International will hold two one day seminars in Beijing and Shanghai, respectively. The conferences will cover the latest on cross-border restructuring and insolvency from across Asia. Register by 30 Sept.

IASB meeting on IBOR reform and its effects on financial reporting

The IASB held an additional meeting on 28 Aug to discuss phase one of its interest rate benchmark (IBOR) reform project, which focuses on financial reporting issues in the period before current interest rate benchmarks are replaced with alternative rates. The August IASB Update and IASB podcast provide summaries of this meeting. The IASB also added phase two of the project to its work plan in August, which will focus on potential financial reporting issues once the existing rate is replaced with an alternative rate.

AC Fun Run 2019

The Institute is introducing a new running event – the AC Fun Run 2019 on 3 Nov at Tseung Kwan O. Jointly organized with the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the event will promote healthy lifestyle to members and the public, and provide a great networking platform for members of different accounting organizations. Join this meaningful event and start making exercise a habit.


Sports and Recreation Night 2019 (rescheduled)

Come celebrate the achievements of our CPA sports stars at the Sports and Recreation Night on 31 Oct together with over 200 members from the 15 sports and recreation interest groups. This fun-filled annual gathering features exciting games, performances and lucky draws, exclusively for members.


Football leagues

The Football Interest Group is organizing two football leagues between October 2019 and August 2020 for members. Enrol in team A for fun-filled competition or team B for challenge fuelled one to enjoy the games and improve your football skills with fellow members.
