Fee waiver and Members’ Forum in September



The Council has completed its annual review on the financial position of the Institute and determined to introduce a full fee waiver for 2020 for members who were on the register of members at 31 December 2017. The Institute is holding a series of three Members’ Forums in September to apprise members of the Institute’s latest developments and to hear from you the issues affecting accountancy profession as well as your expectations of the Institute. Transfer pricing DIPN series – DIPN 59: Transfer pricing between associated persons – Part I

The evening seminar on 25 Sept will discuss how the transfer pricing methodologies mentioned in the Inland Revenue Department’s Departmental Interpretation and Practice Notes (DIPN) No. 59 can help taxpayers to calculate the arm’s length pricing between associated entities.

Practical banking issues: Opening of bank accounts and financing for SMEs
At the seminar on 4 Sept senior representative from the Bank of East Asia will discuss practical banking issues concerning opening company bank accounts, requirements of loan applications and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) loan financing.

Cross-border Tax Conference 2019
The 2019 Cross-border Tax Conference cum the 6th Hong Kong Certified Tax Adviser Conference will take place on 8 Nov. Institute's comments

The Institute has submitted comments on the International Accounting Standards Board's Exposure Draft ED/2019/2 Annual Improvements to IFRS Standards 2018-2020.

AML notices - United Nations sanctions

Two AML notices were published. For further information, visit the Institute's dedicated webpage.

The updated list of individuals and entities was published on 15 Aug pursuant to the Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575). Two entries were added to the list associated with ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida. For details, please refer to the press release issued by the United Nations Security Council Committee.

The updated list of individuals and entities was published on 21 Aug pursuant to section 25 of the United Nations Sanctions (ISIL and Al-Qaida) Regulation (Cap. 537CB).

RSCP tenpin bowling tournament

Congratulations to the Institute's bowling team who won the Recreation and Sports Club for Hong Kong Professional Bodies (RSCP) tenpin bowling tournament on 18 Aug against other professionals including dentists, doctors, lawyers and surveyors. Gavin Yuen and Patrick Lee were the winners of the individual high game. Click to see results and photos.

Recruiting snooker team members

The Institute is recruiting team members to represent us at the RSCP Snooker Tournament on 22 Sept and 6 Oct. The selection criteria are based on tryout session, results from snooker league and snooker tournament in 2019 and participation in previous RSCP competitions.

Singing technique classes

Join a singing technique class starting in September to improve your vocal skill for singing pop songs.


Join the bridge gathering on 31 Aug to practice with fellow members.
