  Accounting for performance and decision making  

The accounting for performance and decision making module of the Financial Controllership Programme is open for enrolments until 11 July. Enrol to develop competencies in strategic decision making process through the provision and impactful communication of relevant information drawing on financial and non-financial decision making techniques, key performance measures and insightful reporting.


  New e-Finance courses  
 

The Institute recently launched 29 new e-Finance courses, including one free course. Discounts are available for enrolling in more than one e-Finance course at the same time.

 
 

Market Misconduct Tribunal call for nominations

The Market Misconduct Tribunal has issued a call for nominations. If you are interested in joining the tribunal as an ordinary member please submit your nomination by 2 July to the Institute's Member Support Department. Details about eligibility and requirements can be found here.


5G in China – its impact on our daily lives and business environment
The Mainland Business Interest Group evening seminar on 29 July will introduce 5G technology. The speaker will explain its potential applications and impacts on society, as well as the readiness of 5G deployment in Hong Kong.

Jointly organized by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Belt and Road Summit will gather together senior government officials and business leaders to exchange insights on multilateral cooperation and explore concrete business opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative. Update no. 229 contains PN 900 (Revised) Audit of financial statements prepared in accordance with the Small- and Medium- sized Entity Financial Reporting Standard.


e-Seminar: Forum on Consultation on Quality Management for Firms and Engagements

The forum covers the key aspects of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board's (IAASB) three interrelated exposure drafts that address quality management. The IAASB representatives explained how these proposed standards are intended to work, including how they may be applied in different circumstances. It also includes a summary of other active IAASB projects and initiatives.


Companies Registry announces Non-Hong Kong Companies Regulation

On 17 June, the Companies Registry announced that the Non-Hong Kong Companies (Disclosure of Company Name, Place of Incorporation and Members’ Limited Liability) Regulation (Cap. 622M) would come into operation on 1 Aug. The Regulation re-enacts the existing provision of section 792 of the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) and aligns the disclosure obligations of non-Hong Kong companies with those of Hong Kong companies. Please refer to the External Circular No. 2/2019 for details and direct any enquiries to the Companies Registry.
