The role of independent market share data – an activist investor's perspective

 

At the lunch seminar on 28 May, an activist investor and short seller of international repute will examine the role of independent market research in the capital markets, and discuss the value of market research and how investors should rely on it when evaluating the claims of public companies, demonstrated by case studies.

 

Engaging millennials in the workplace to create synergy

Join the workshop on 20 May to learn to appreciate the importance of engaging with staff and acquire and apply the skills in motivating and communicating with your staff.


Analysing credit-linked structured products
The workshop on 29 May will provide the general and practical knowledge needed to understand credit-linked structured products available in the market. It will also examine the terms and conditions of credit-linked structured products through term sheets.

Executive Programme for Accountants: Enhancing corporate value
Enrol in the workshops jointly organized by the Institute and the Hong Kong Institute of Directors in May and June to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills for safeguarding and enhancing corporate valuations, and understanding the directors‘ duties and responsibilities under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622)

Joint seminar on the Companies Ordinance
The Institute will host a seminar on 3 June with The Institute of Hong Kong Chartered Secretaries and The Law Society of Hong Kong bringing together distinguished speakers to discuss whether the objectives of the Companies Ordinance (Cap 622) implemented in 2014 have been realized. The speakers will also share what lies ahead to ensure the continued success of Hong Kong as an international financial centre of choice.

Mainland China VAT update
Join the seminar on 6 June for some key changes introduced to the Mainland China value added tax (VAT) system under the Public Notice 39, 2019 and Announcement 14 and 15 issued by the State Taxation Administration, and their implications to business enterprises under the new rules and regulations. Relevant cases will be illustrated to demonstrate how to utilize the benefits brought by these changes.

Stressing about stress: Understanding and managing your stress
The free seminar on 14 June aims to help participants to identify the signs and symptoms of stress. The speaker will share how to implement various stress management measures to decrease daily stress and how to manage emotions.

IIA Annual Conference 2019
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) will host its annual conference titled "Disruption, Agility and Innovation" on 3 June. Discussion topics cover internal audit’s role in managing disruptions, roadblocks to agility and innovation, governance and assurance for emerging technologies, essentials for survival in the digital era, practical approach to assessing cyber resilience and using robotic process automation in internal audit.

The forum on 24 May will cover the key aspects of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board's (IAASB) three interrelated exposure drafts that address quality management. Accounting and financial reporting: IFRS standards for SMEs
