HKSFA 3rd career conference
The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts will host the 3rd career conference titled "Unearthing the opportunities in HK asset & wealth management industry" on 16 March. The conference will consist of a three-part panel discussion where distinguished speakers from the asset and wealth management and financial technology industries will share their views on the latest developments of the industries and the arising career opportunities. Interested members can register at a discounted rate of HK$250 by choosing “Non-member” option and inputting the discount code “190316PB”.

Managing risks in belt and road projects
The Institute of Advanced Executive Education of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University will hold a two-day workshop on 29 and 30 March on risk management of belt and road projects. Register for the workshop to learn about the role of risk management and the tools to identify, measure, and control major risks across global markets.
Oxfam Trailwalker 2018 awards

At the prize presentation ceremony of Oxfam Trailwalker 2018 on 22 Feb, the Institute's team SARA, who achieved an Institute record-breaking time of 16 hours and 42 minutes, was honoured with the "Speed Award" of the accountancy category. The Institute was also presented the "Outstanding Fundraiser Award" for raising HK$167,888.

3-on-3 basketball competition

Congratulations to Street Fighters, champions of the 3-on-3 basketball competition held on 2 March. 菊花台 came second, and Vitality third. Click to see photos.

Basketball training course

Join the 10-session basketball training course in April and May to improve your understanding and skills of the game from both an individual and team perspectives. Members of all skill levels are welcome.


Don't forget the annual CPA graded bowling competition on 31 March.

Minutes of the 372nd meeting of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Committee are now available.

IFRS project summary

The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation has published the project summary on possible improvements to IFRS 8 Operating Segments.

Investor publication on financial reporting of lessee

The investor publication on analysing lessee financial statements and non-GAAP performance measures is now available.

Sample profits tax returns for 2018/19

Printed copy of the sample 2018/19 profits tax returns will be issued by the Inland Revenue Department upon request. Fax your request, including the type of returns, language version, number of copies required and contact details to 2519-6773. The contact person will be notified once the copy is available for collection, either in person or by an authorized representative, at the counter on 14/F of Revenue Tower.

New property alert service

The Land Registry launched the enhanced property alert system to help protect individual and corporate owners of Hong Kong property. The service helps owners, especially those who reside overseas, to stay on top of potential issues and identify possible fraudulent activities against the property’s title. It enables them to discover any problem at an early stage and take prompt action. Read more about the tool or download the subscription form here.

The updated gazettal of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the United Nations Security Council was published on 1 March pursuant to the United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575). Visit the Institute's dedicated webpage for further information.
