Consultation on licensing regime of property management practitioners


The Property Management Services Authority is conducting a consultation on the licensing of property management companies and property management practitioners. This could affect members working in a managerial or supervisory role in this sector, if their role involves the service of finance and asset management, or other specified services, relating to a property. Members concerned are invited to comment by 18 Jan.


Beneficial ownership and Certificate of Resident Status

At the evening seminar on 31 Jan, the speakers will walk attendees through the relevant provisions in the State Administration of Taxation Public Notice [2018] No. 9 on beneficial owner determination, safe harbour provisions and the "look-through" rule, with practical cases on application of these provisions.

Transforming Hong Kong through entrepreneurship
Join the seminar on 13 Feb to learn about the current challenges faced by entrepreneurs and the key recommendations to address identified gaps in Hong Kong's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Attend the FSIG cocktail reception on 16 Jan to find out how blood types are related to investor behaviours.

Last chance to enrol in the seminar on 18 Jan to learn ways to determinate environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, recommendations on how to improve ESG ratings, as well as the interpretation of ratings.

Don't miss the CFIG lunch seminar on 23 Jan which will give an overview of key features of the new listing rules for new economy companies, compare the new and old rules, and include a discussion on matters requiring attention.

Enrol in the workshops on 23 Feb and 23 March to understand various stages of enterprise resource planning implementation, including training preparation, cutover planning, go-live support, as well as stabilization and post-implementation review.

The Institute has 15 interest groups which organize sports and recreational activities for members. Each member can join up to five interest groups free of charge. Login to myCPA to join the interest groups on or before 30 Jan.

IFRS 13 Fair Value Measurement

The International Accounting Standards Board has published its project report and feedback statement on its Post-implementation Review of IFRS 13.


The IASB has released additional educational modules to provide support to anyone learning about, applying, or reading financial statements prepared using the IFRS for SMEs standard, on which HKFRS for Private Entities is based.

Standard Chartered Marathon runner's pack and briefing session

If you have registered with the Institute as a CPA runner of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2019, please collect your runner's pack from the Institute (not Victoria Park) from 13 to 16 Feb. For those who have opted for courier service, your runner's pack will be delivered to your office between 13 and 15 Feb. Also sign up for the briefing session on 25 Jan for strategies on race preparation.

RSCP golf tournament

Put your name forward if you are interested in representing the Institute at the RSCP golf tournament on 13 March at The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club Hong Kong. The internal selection will be held based on members' handicap and past competition records.
