Extension of mutual recognition agreement with U.S.

The Institute and the United States International Qualifications Appraisal Board have agreed to further extend the mutual recognition agreement to 31 Dec 2019 to allow more time for conducting a mutual review and considering renewal of the agreement. Members who wish to obtain a U.S. CPA licence under the agreement are advised to meet all the application requirements and apply for the licence before 31 Dec 2019. Early closing

The Institute's offices and library will close at 4 p.m. on 24 Dec. (Christmas Eve) and 31 Dec. (New Year's Eve).

ESG reporting and greenhouse gas accounting/carbon trading
Enrol in the seminar on 8 Jan to learn the current trend and latest regulatory updates of environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, guideline and methodology of greenhouse gas accounting, and the future trend in sustainability practices.

Annual forensic accounting update
Join this afternoon event on 17 Jan for updates on two highly topical themes: modern techniques in forensics investigations, and financial controls against bribery and corruption.

Interpretation of ESG rating and responses
The seminar on 18 Jan will focus on the ways to determinate the ESG performance, recommendations on how to improve the rating through corporate governance and stakeholders communication, as well as the interpretation of ESG ratings.

New economy companies under the new listing rules in Hong Kong
The Corporate Finance Interest Group lunch seminar on 23 Jan will give an overview of the key features of the new listing rules for new economy companies, compare the new and old rules, and include a discussion on matters requiring attention. It will also highlight the technical issues, in terms of audit and accounting aspects.

The 2018 editions of Accounting Yearbook of China (《中國會計年鑒》 2018年卷) and China Taxation Yearbook (《中國稅務年鑒》 2018年卷) are available for subscription until 10 Jan.
