The 2019 renewal notice will be emailed to you in mid-November. While the 2019 member annual fee will be waived in full for members whose names were on the register at 31 Dec 2017, you will still need to submit your continuing professional development declaration to renew your membership. How to decide whether it's CPD
Seminars, conferences and online courses are acceptable as continuing professional development (CPD) activities. When choosing CPD courses, think about whether they contribute to the development of professional competence relevant to your work. Visit the CPD learning resource centre for various courses and learn more about CPD requirements.

Professional Diploma in Insolvency – Call for enrolment
The Institute's Professional Diploma in Insolvency, covering liquidation, personal insolvency, corporate rescue and restructuring, and cross-border insolvency, will begin in November. The programme is reimbursable under the Continuing Education Fund. Enrol by 26 Nov or click here for more details.

Mega trends in sourcing from China
The workshop on 12 Nov will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Chinese manufacturers, and the impact of the recent geopolitical and economic power shifts currently playing out and determining what the future holds.

Attend the upcoming seminar covering regulatory, accounting and tax updates relating to retirement schemes and the investment funds industry on 14 Nov.

Trade war between China and U.S. – customs and other relevant issues
At the Mainland Business Interest Group lunch seminar on 19 Nov, Derek Lee, Partner of PwC Customs & International Trade, will talk about the impact of the China and U.S. trade war and what companies can do to mitigate the adverse impact of the current tariff environment and will highlight potential opportunities.

Business valuation for IPO and corporate transaction circular
Join the seminar on 22 Nov to learn more about the common valuation items in an initial public offering, notifiable transactions and relevant disclosure requirements and merits of market approach vs. income approach.

Reminders
The Practice Management Series starting from 29 Oct aims to help small- and medium-sized practitioners better prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead of them, topics include how to develop a people strategy, expansion through mergers and acquisitions, building and growing your firm, as well as risk management.

United Nations sanctions notices

The following United Nations Sanctions were published on 16 Oct:

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575) includes updating of specification of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the United Nations Security Council (SC) Committees.

The updated list of individuals, groups, undertakings and entities under the United Nations Sanctions (ISIL and AL-Qaida) Regulation.
