  National Day Celebration Dinner  

More than 700 members and guests joined the 69th National Day celebration dinner for the accounting profession on 4 Sep. The guests of honour this year were Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Yang Yirui, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR; and Joseph Chan, Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury. Watch the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures' (TCFD) webinar to learn how companies can become supporters of the TCFD and help maintain the momentum for improved climate-related disclosure. Liaison meeting with the State Administration of Taxation

The Taxation Faculty's China Tax Subcommittee recently held its annual liaison meeting on cross-border tax issues with the Mainland State Administration of Taxation. The notes of the meeting in Chinese (simplified and traditional versions) are now available.


Study tour to Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle – Shanghai (長三角經濟圈考察團 – 上海)
The study tour to Shanghai for young members on 17 - 20 Oct will visit the Shanghai finance and taxation bureaux, renowned enterprises, the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank, and the Shanghai Stock Exchange, to enhance participants' understanding of the latest developments in Shanghai's financial and business sectors. It will also include visits to an automobile company's R&D centre and the National Intelligent Networking Automotive (Shanghai) Pilot Demonstration Zone, as well as a networking forum with representatives of local enterprises.

The workshop on 9 Oct will explain the need for organizations to transform from linear to exponential and the skills required for organizational transformation in achieving exponential business results.

Don't miss the environmental, social and governance series in September, covering the techniques to determine reporting boundaries, key considerations when forming an ESG committee, how to select appropriate ratio indicators for data presentation, and the methodology behind carbon emissions estimation.

HKACFE fraud investigation advanced course
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Hong Kong Chapter, in partnership with Centre of Criminology of the University of Hong Kong, will hold an advanced training course on fraud Investigation in Hong Kong on four Saturday mornings in October.

Preparers of financial reports: Roundtable discussion on financial instruments

The Institute will host a roundtable discussion on 30 Oct to discuss the IASB's latest thinking on how to classify financial instruments with debt and equity features. Preparers of financial reports are invited to join this roundtable to share their views or concerns.


Post-implementation Review of Accounting Guideline 5

The Institute has published its Feedback Statement on the Post-implementation Review of Accounting Guideline 5 Merger Accounting for Common Control Combinations. The comment letters received and summaries of outreach meetings held are also available.

 
Recruiting swimmers and runners

The Institute is forming teams to compete in the inter-professional 4 x 50m relay swimming race and 4 x 100m relay running race organized by the Hong Kong Medical Association on 14 Oct and 11 Nov respectively. If you are interested in joining the races, please submit your best time by 15 Sep for internal selection.


CPA football competition

Form a team to compete in the annual CPA football competition which will be held on weekends between November and January.


Golf events in October

Swing with your fellow members at the golf day at Phoenix Hill Golf Club in Dongguan on 13 Oct; or join the golf class at Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course on 14 Oct to sharpen your skill of using driver and woods.
