  Best Corporate Governance Awards 2018 invites entries  

The Institute's Best Corporate Governance Awards (BCGA) 2018 are open for entry. This year, the BCGA includes a new award for good corporate governance practices, which is based on self-nominations and aimed at encouraging smaller companies and public sector/not-for-profit organizations to improve their corporate governance. INED practices
The executive programme jointly organized with the Hong Kong Institute of Directors begins on 25 Aug. The programme will help you understand the roles and responsibilities of independent non-executive directors (INEDs), including considerations when accepting appointment, latest legal and regulatory updates, and corporate governance skills and strategies in order to perform INED roles effectively.

Integrity Cup Table Tennis Competition
Congratulations to the Institute's table tennis team for clinching the championship and won three individual awards including women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles at the Integrity Cup Table Tennis Competition "誠信杯" 乒乓球賽 held on 21-22 Jul in Guangzhou. The team competed with 26 other teams from across the Guangdong province, Macau and Hong Kong. Click to see photos.

Recruiting football team members

Put your name forward if you wish to represent the Institute at the 4-a-side Homeless World Cup Fundraising Tournament on 8-9 Sep. The selection criteria are based on player's skills, past results and sportsmanship.

Golf day

Players of all handicaps are welcomed to attend the upcoming golf day on 25 Aug at Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course.

Football Interest Group is inviting members to form a team to participate in either 7-a-side or 11-a-side football league, to be held between August 2018 and July 2019.
Don't miss the elementary and intermediate tennis training course in August.

The Institute commented on the IESBA Discussion Paper Proposed Strategy and Work Plan 2019-2023 and the European Commission's Fitness Check on the EU Framework for Public Reporting by Companies.

Updated practical support and guidance for SME audits

The IFAC has updated the Guide to Using ISAs in the Audits of SMEs, Fourth Edition to help auditors efficiently and proportionally apply International Standards on Auditing on SME audits.

The IFRS has released the second in a series of webcasts on the Discussion Paper Financial Instruments with Characteristics of Equity.

United Nations sanctions notices

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575) includes updating of specification of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the United Nations Security Council (SC) Committees. The Notice (i) specifies the updated list of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the SC 1988 Committee on 10 Apr and the SC 1267/1989/2253 Committee on 17 Jul; and (ii) revokes the previous 20 Jun Notice. There is also an amendment to additions of two entries on the list of designations associated with ISIL (Da’esh) or Al-Qaida.
