A Plus – The Final Countdown

In the June issue of A Plus, released last week, features articles on how Zhuhai is the next big thing for businesses and CPAs, the implications of IFRS 17 redefining insurance accounting standards, and the importance of independent non-executive directors in corporate scandals. The issue also includes interviews with the Managing Director of BDO Hong Kong on accountants role in a time of technological advancements, and the Chief Financial Officer of Sappi Trading on how her company has responded to the changing use of paper and wood fibre products.

 

National Day Celebration Dinner

ERP implementation – best practices, controls and governance

The workshop series starting in September will cover the practical aspects of enterprise resource planning implementations and discuss the best practices, change management and monitoring processes that are critical to success.


Reminders
The workshop on 23 Jul covers the importance of performance coaching and explains a practical three steps approach to conducting coaching.
The seminar on 26 Jul will cover the development of family offices in Asia and provide an introduction on how to structure them.

Hong Kong Investment Funds Association 12th Annual Conference

The Hong Kong Investment Funds Association 12th Annual Conference will take place on 26 Nov. Titled "Shaping the future of asset management", the event will highlight Hong Kong's capital market opportunities with the opening of the Mainland China financial markets. Members can enrol at a special rate of HK$3,900.

Financial instruments with characteristics of equity

The IASB has published Discussion Paper DP/2018/1 Financial Instruments with Characteristics of Equity. It has also produced this video explaining its approach to help companies classify financial instruments either as debt or equity. The Institute is seeking comments on the Discussion Paper by 9 Nov.

Update no.218 relates to the issuance of the revised Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting.
