  Financial Controllership Programme 2018 – calling all aspiring finance leaders  
The Financial Controllership Programme will begin in June. This 6-month part-time programme is unique and tailor-made to help you develop the competencies and practical and technical skills needed to become a finance leader. Supporting NGOs on governance and sustainable development

The Institute's two vice presidents, Patrick Law and Johnson Kong, attended the Hong Kong Council of Social Service's NGO Directors' Luncheons on 4 and 11 May with the Associate Director (Subventions) of the Social Welfare Department, Mr. Alex Wong Kwok-chun, HKCSS Vice-Chairperson Kennedy Liu and Kwok Lit-tung, members of Institute's Community Service Working Group and around 80 board members and agency heads from 40 NGOs.

Organized by HKCSS, the Institute's Charitable Fund sponsored these events to advocate to NGO board members the importance of good governance for achieving sustainable development. This project targets NGOs receiving the Hong Kong government's Lump Sum Grant.

New video series: CFOs under 35
The Institute launches a new video series highlighting successful CPAs, chief financial officers under 35 discuss their personal thoughts on the value of being an Institute member, what it means to be a CPA today, and the future role of CPAs. These videos focus on some of the CFOs interviewed for the February A Plus article Nothing but a number.

Global Directorship Programme

The Hong Kong Institute of Directors partners with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) to organize the Global Directorship Programme (GDP), an advanced level of directorship training. Taught by world-class academics, seasoned directors and leading governance experts from Hong Kong and CISL, the GDP is highly selective in the intake of an exclusive group of 21 Directors / C-suite executives. Institute members enjoy a special rate in enrolment.

Summaries of the May meeting of the IASB Transition Resource Group for Insurance Contracts and the March meeting of the Hong Kong Insurance Implementation Support Group are now available.

New members cocktail

Over 110 new members attended the cocktail reception on 12 May to celebrate their CPA designation. They were greeted by the President and Vice Presidents, Council members, the Chief Executive and Registrar, members of senior management, and representatives from various professional and sports and recreation interest groups.
