  FRC Bill developments  
The Financial Reporting Council (Amendment) Bill 2018, establishing an independent regulation regime of the auditors of listed entities, is progressing through the Bills Committee, the Institute has provided submissions to the committee and the Chief Executive and Registrar Raphael Ding has written articles for the media (Oriental Daily, HKEJ) about the Bill. HKCPS Secondary School Student Internship Programme 2018
The Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services, of which the Institute is a member, is organizing an internship programme in July for secondary school students from Yuen Long to work for 2 weeks in professional firms. Return your reply slip to HKCPS if you are interested in providing opportunities for these teenagers to learn more about the accounting profession.

The mediation series in May to June aims at assisting professionals in developing knowledge about the role and duties of mediators in business.

PICIG cocktail reception
Come join the Property, Infrastructure and Construction Interest Group annual cocktail reception on 28 May where Prof. Ting Sun Pao, Joseph, Adjunct Professor and Senior Researcher from CUHK, will share the nomenclature of some of the earlier streets in Hong Kong, their naming patterns under the policy of the colonial government and some streets with interesting Chinese translated names.

2018 Compliance Forum – re-run for SMPs in Cantonese

The Institute's Compliance Department will share knowledge, skills and tips at the Compliance Forum themed "Right Today, Better Tomorrow" on 8 Jun to help SMPs minimize the chance of having complaints filed against them. Enrol by 1 Jun.

The IASB Vice-Chair discusses IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and explains the Board's thinking behind the accounting requirements for equity investments in IFRS 9.
