Quality assurance report  
The Institute's Quality Assurance Report 2017 is out now. It summarizes the work of the Quality Assurance department in practice review and professional standards monitoring over the past year, and highlights common review findings of which members should be aware.
     
What's up, Compliance?

The Institute has also published the 2017 Compliance Department Annual Report, highlighting the department's activities and the Regulatory Oversight Board's process review report.


China tax updates from the Institute's meetings with Mainland tax authorities
The seminar on 23 Apr will highlight the views of officials from the Mainland China's State Administration of Taxation including corporate restructuring, valued-added tax, and individual income tax.

General Data Protection Regulation's impact in Asia

The HKUST Institute for the Environment and School of Business, and Civic Exchange will organize a seminar on 17 Apr titled "Catching the Wave: Hong Kong as a Regional Green Finance Hub". Topics will cover Hong Kong's economic, social and environmental issues in this transformational landscape. The event is free of charge but registration is required.

HKACFE breakfast seminar
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Hong Kong Chapter will hold a morning event on 23 Apr titled "Ethics in the government: Why it matters to the business sectors?" to uncover the common law offence of "Misconduct in Public Office".

Public seminar on Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing
Dow Jones and Ingenique Solutions Pte Ltd are organizing a public seminar on Implementing Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing on 27 Apr for information on how to implement the guidelines for small and medium-sized firms. Admission is free.

HKAEE experience sharing seminars
Enrol in the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence experience sharing seminars from April to June to hear companies with outstanding environmental performance share their achievements. Registration required for this free event.
 
Hong Kong Insurance Implementation Support Group
The meeting schedule for Hong Kong Insurance Implementation Support Group has been updated. Interested parties are invited to:

Revised Conceptual Framework

The IASB has completed revisions to the Conceptual Framework to Financial Reporting, supporting materials are now available. The Institute's Financial Reporting Standards Committee is approving the revised framework and we will update the HKFRSs after the process is finished.
