  Council election  

Exercise your right to select seven candidates to join the Council and cast your votes either by ballot paper or by e-voting, but not both, by 5:30 p.m. on 10 Dec. Click here to learn more about the candidates and proceed to e-voting.


The 46th annual general meeting will be held on 13 Dec, as well as the announcement of the Council election results, the Institute will appoint an auditor and receive the president's address. After the AGM, the new president and vice-presidents will be elected at a special Council meeting.

Position Paper on Changes to Practical Experience Framework

The Institute issued the Position Paper on Changes to Practical Experience Framework on 28 Nov, which sets out the changes to the Practical Experience Framework under the new Qualification Programme. The revised framework enhances the flexibility of the practical experience requirements, strengthens the quality assurance of the Authorized Employer and Authorized Supervisor system, and promotes communication through an online system. BCG Awards winners

This year's Best Corporate Governance Awards handed out 23 awards, three more than last year, including to seven first-time winners. The awards presentation luncheon was held today with James H. Lau Jr, JP, Secretary for Financial Sevices and the Treasury, as the guest of honour. Click here to see the full results, judges' report and press release.


Annual report published

The Institute's 2018 annual report, "Profession of Possibilities”, is available now. The photo essays illustrate Accounting Plus, and how our members progress in areas beyond auditing and assurance, and financial reporting, adding value to business across myriad of industries. For the first time, an interactive version is available, including a video of President Eric Tong highlighting the activities of past year and what Accounting Pus means for the future of the profession.

Renew your membership

While the 2019 member annual fee will be waived for members whose names were on the register at 31 Dec 2017, you still need to file your annual return with continuing professional development declaration by 15 Dec to renew your membership. Click here to renew or check your renewal status.

Practice Management Series for SMPs – Risk management
The seminar on 4 Dec will cover risk management considerations including quality control policies and procedures within small- and medium-sized practices, why they are important and provide suggestions on establishing good risk management policies and procedures.

Personal data: Crossing the chasms of expectations
At the 11 Dec lunch seminar, Tony Lam, Deputy Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, will share his knowledge and insights on the issues surrounding data breaches and the matters of considerable public interest and concern, in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Update No. 220 contains PN 850 (Revised) Reporting on Flag Days and General Charitable Fund-raising Activities Covered by Public Subscription Permits issued by the Social Welfare Department.

AML notice – United Nations sanctions and updated list of terrorists

Lists under section 38 of the United Nations Sanctions (Libya) Regulation 2011 and section 32 of the United Nations Sanctions (South Sudan) Regulation 2018 have been updated. Go to the Institute's dedicated webpage for further information.
